OUR CLIENTS

Forward Legal represents small businesses and government contractors of all sizes. We support our clients at all stages of their business life-cycle, understanding their core vision and moving them forward through ordinary needs and extraordinary challenges with that vision always in mind. We specialize in helping our clients navigate through complex challenges related to public procurement, business growth, and management.

Our diverse corporate client base includes small, midsize, and large engineering and architecture firms; pre-venture and start-up tech and service companies; small and disadvantaged woman-owned and minority-owned businesses; multimillion dollar IT and professional trade firms; and billion-dollar construction management companies.

OUR WORK

We support government contractors and small businesses by effectively and efficiently handling their core legal needs.

We guide owners and directors on managing internal affairs including corporate formation, reorganization and restructuring, ownership changes, abiding by necessary formalities, and strategic planning to meet long-term business goals. We help our client negotiate and enter into valuable commercial transactions and partnerships. We help them resolve disputes.

We assist small, minority, woman-owned, and disadvantaged businesses in acquiring and maintaining critical government contracting certifications, including 8(a), DBE, MBE, WBE, and other certifications - working directly with agency staff on their behalf to resolve issues before they become serious. We support companies through investigations and when necessary we challenge unlawful and unsupported agency actions. We have successfully overturned multiple adverse agency decisions through informal hearings, appeals, or requests for reconsideration.

We help our clients navigate and comply with with complex public procurement regulations and other state and federal requirements.

We bring a wealth of experience representing businesses in high-stakes litigation, arbitration, and administrative proceedings in jurisdictions across the United States. These include high-dollar breach of contract disputes in court or arbitration; representing litigants in federal anti-tort statue, false claims act, employment, first-amendment, and fraud matters; and obtaining highly favorable results in agency decertification proceedings and requests for reconsideration.

OUR APPROACH

We implement a unique methodology applied to every client we represent. The method lets us map our actions so we can move purposefully to move our clients forward.

  • First, we start by understanding your vision. We usually start with a simple question: where do you see yourself in five years? Once we understand your vision, it becomes our guiding principle in our representation.

  • Second, we collaborate with you to translate the vision into measurable long-term goals. We help develop clear timelines, metrics, and milestones to ensure these goals are practical and achievable.

  • Third, as necessary, we work with you to refine these goals into more immediate, measurable near-term objectives. We draw the through-lines from these objectives to the goals. By separating the objectives from the goals, we create substantial benefits in laying out concrete plans, finding pivot points, and making certain your legal representation works synergistically with the rest of your business.

  • Fourth, we develop and execute strategies specifically designed to meet these short-term objectives.

We sidestep generic strategies and one-size-fits all solutions, opting instead for a specifically tailored gameplan. Our approach ensures that we are always guided by your vision. We find that our approach avoids counterproductive or wasteful movement because we have charted a through-line from our work to the next step in fulfilling the vision for the business.

OUR VALUES

We operate by a set of core values that enable us to deliver exceptional results:

  1. Honesty and Transparency: We pride ourselves on clarity and truthfulness in all our dealings. We maintain open and honest communication of potential risks, obstacles, options, and outcomes, giving our clients information necessary to make well calculated decisions.

  2. Adaptability: The legal and regulatory environments our clients operate in can shift rapidly.  Externalities can impact our clients’ situations. As the environment and client needs change, we're prepared to quickly change with them.

  3. Rigorous Analysis: Our clients often face unique circumstances that cannot be resolved with generic approaches. We believe that complex issues merit well-considered counsel. By applying intellectual rigor, we deliver alternative strategies and tactics more carefully tailored to client objectives.

  4. Panoramic Vision: By implementing our approach, we strive to see the whole landscape. Rather than silo-ing off individual tasks and performing them in a vacuum, we align deliverables with our client’s big picture.

These values provide a consistent framework, whether we're helping our clients navigate DBE or MBE decertification proceedings, negotiating key terms with our client’s business partner, or working to resolve a dispute with a subcontractor or teaming partner. By allowing our values to guide us, we chart an optimal course forward.
